Kathy Kari is a home economist certified in Family and Consumer Sciences with a B.S. from Michigan State University. In 2006, she began Kari Consulting Group, Inc. in her Lisle. Illinois home, designing, developing and testing all categories of kitchenware products and recipes for major manufacturers. Her unique knowledge of manufacturing, sourcing and product use and care make her a valuable resource to some of the top manufacturers. Her client list reads like a who’s who of the kitchenware/food industry, including All-Clad MetalCrafters, Wilton Industries, Kuhn-Rikon, Sierra Housewares, PrepCo, Con-Agra, John B. Sanfilippo, Market Day and The Pampered Chef.
Since a very young age, Kathy knew she wanted to work in the food industry. She took home economics and business classes throughout high school and majored in Consumer and Community Services at Michigan State University.
Following graduation, Kathy began her own catering business, specializing in cake decorating and chocolate artistry for corporate events and weddings.
Kathy then decided it was time to take her expertise in the kitchen to the corporate environment. Over the next 20 years, Kathy built a successful career, eventually leading a staff of 17 professionals in a world-class test kitchen for a global leader in kitchen products which focused on product testing and recipe development. She's appeared in countless cooking demo videos and has led highly popular cooking classes throughout the United States, Europe, and Canada. She was honored in 2002 as Business Professional of the Year by the Chicago Chapter of Home Economists.
In 2006, Kathy felt there was an ingredient missing in her life. She left her corporate career and set up shop in her own kitchen. Kathy recognized that with her experience and knowledge, she could offer something no one else could — the development and testing of products and recipes in a real-world kitchen. Today, Kathy partners with internationally recognized kitchenware manufacturers, developing, testing, honing and refining some of the top kitchen and food products used by today’s home cooks.
